CSF membership drive started February 10th. Bring your transcript to Rm 1425 during nutrition to complete the form. Don't let your hard work go unnoticed. Sophomore, juniors and seniors apply now.
Jaguars, don't forget. If you were late to school or to any class, you need to serve a 30 minute detention, after school, in room 1604.
Off Campus Lunch Passes will be available from Feb. 9 thru Feb 19, 2016. They will be in the 500 building at the front desk.
Remember to sign up for the Resume and Mock Interview Workshops. These Career Development Workshops will be held during Engineering Week on Tuesday February 23rd. See Ms. Bravo or Mr. Fisher if you have any questions about these events.
The last day to order cap/gown/tassel, senior sweatshirts and T-shirt is Thursday, March 24th.
Students: If at any time during the school year you need to leave early, please bring your note from your parent(s) to the attendance window before school. It will be verified, and you can pick up your early out during nutrition. This avoids being late to your appointment.

On Thursday, February 25th, 2016 – from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in room 309 – the Cabrillo Engineering and Design (CED) Advisory Board and the Girls in Engineering, Science, and Mathematics (GEMS) club present the second annual Women in STEM Luncheon Event. Join us as we discover the infinite possibilities for women in the Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) fields. Listen to the stories of why these bright women decided to take the challenge to pursue a higher education and a career in fields that used to be male dominate. Take advantage of this opportunity to ask these ladies the questions you may have about pursuing a STEM education and/or career.
Register online by Wednesday, February 24th, 2016 to take advantage of this unique opportunity – only 100 spots are available. Make sure you are not left out of the conversation your friends will be having on the 26th.
Cabrillo Virtual Enterprise students competed in the Long Beach Virtual Enterprise competition at the Long Beach Convention Center and took 2nd place overall for the Best Marketing Plan. Congratulations to Mr. Dowding and our Virtual Enterprise students.
Long Beach Unified School District is moving to the cloud. This exciting change will provide access to a wide array of options to promote learning and collaborate. The cloud initiative has many goals, which include:
- All employees and students can obtain up to 10 free copies of the full Microsoft Office suite for use on personal devices and at home.
- Accounts will be created in Office365 and Google Apps For Education (GAFE) for all teachers, employees and students.
- GroupWise email will be replaced by Outlook.com with existing accounts.
- Moving all existing documents to your new “OneDrive” cloud space.
Beginning February 22, 2016, when you access the myLBUSD portal (or studentLBUSD for students) you will be prompted to setup a way to recover your password should it ever be lost or forgotten.

The Port of Long Beach and Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network are proud to offer an outstanding career exploration opportunity for current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the Long Beach Unified School District’s service area. The eight-week program offers hands-on work experience and mentoring at the Port of Long Beach for those interested in careers in the goods movement industry.
The program starts June 27 and concludes Aug. 19, 2016. Interns must have reliable transportation to and from the Port. Applications are available online Feb. 1 and must be submitted in person by March 1 (see attachment). Selected youth will be required to have the National Work Readiness Credential issued by Pacific
Gateway. Interns will earn $10.10 an hour and work up to 30 hours per week.
- Please submit all permission slips/contracts to the ASB room: Grad Nite for Disneyland, Prom at the Hilton, and Graduation at Veteran’s Stadium.
- Clear your detentions, pass your classes and pay your fines. If not, you will not walk across the graduation stage on Tuesday, June 14.
- Fines include the following: ASB, textbooks, library, athletics, cafeteria, and club fines.
Registration is now open for CED junior and senior girls to register for
the 2016 Women in STEM Luncheon Event on Thursday, February 25th. Space is limited.
If your counselor or teachers have identified you as “college bound” and have recognized your potential to succeed in very challenging courses, you are invited and strongly encouraged to join the AP/H/ACC Presentations on Friday, February 29th in the Auditorium. Bring your invitation as your pass to attend. It will be collected and turned in to the attendance office. During these presentations you will hear from current AP, Honors, and Accelerated students. You’ll learn about the benefits and challenges of taking these courses and you’ll be encouraged to take one. Further information regarding how to enroll will also be discussed.
