CABRILLO won the Howard Lyon Sportsmanship 2014-2015 Award
Congrats to CABRILLO for winning the Howard Lyon Sportsmanship Award for the 2014-15 school year! With no votes for Fall Sports, the Jags came roaring back to capture the trophy. Results are attached.

Spring Practice for Football Next Year

Students interested in playing football next year must begin attending Spring practice now.  Spring and Summer Football Practice are mandatory. Players who show up after school lets out in June will not be in the 6th period football class in the Fall and will not be allowed to participate in the Spring Football Game on June 5th. Players:"You will not make the Varsity Roster if you don't show up in August". Players having issues with grades, rides or equipment, it is your responsibility to speak with Coach Hayes in person a.s.a.p. He is in the weight room by 4:00pm. Practice is every Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm-6:30pm starting today until July 10th. No practice on Monday due to Memorial Day Holiday. Regular practice resumes 3-6:30pm on Tuesday, May 26, and Wednesday, May 27th.

1st Annual Powder Puff Game

Any Junior or Senior girls interested in playing in the 1st Annual Powder Puff Game please see Ms. Granieri in Room 1122 by May 29th to sign-up. There is a $5 entry fee to be on the team and you will be coached by a football player. All team members will receive a team tee-shirt and meal after the game. Homeless Sock Drive at the CAL-J Courtyard

Change a person’s life by simply donating socks. Be a good person and help another in need at Cabrillo’s homeless sock drive on Wednesday May 27th at the CAL-J courtyard from 6-8pm.

The Homeless Need Our Help

The homeless need our help. Let’s help them by putting in a little effort and donating things like toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrushes, socks, and other things that may aid them. There will be donation boxes in select teachers’ classrooms and on Wednesday, May 27, 6-8pm at Open House.

Cabrillo Open House on Wednesday, May 27th.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

 

We are pleased to invite you to join us at Cabrillo High School for Open House on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Our College Faire is from 5:00 pm to 7 pm in the Main Quad—food vendors and non-profits will be on hand. 

The purpose of Open House is to give you the opportunity to see student work and student-centered classrooms at Cabrillo High School. You will be able to visit all classes in any order, during this time. This is not an appropriate time for individual parent/teacher conferences.  If desired, conferences should be set up with the teacher for a later time.

School will be dismissed at 12:40 p.m. on May 27th.  Special Education Buses depart at 1:15 p.m.  The College Faire, food vendors, and music entertainment will be on hand in the main quad and ACCESS quad at 5 p.m.

The faculty and administration encourage you to become involved with your son or daughter’s education by joining us at Open House.  We look forward to seeing each of you.

Cabrillo High School Open House Schedule for Wednesday, May 27 from 6 to 8PM

During Open House, there are no bells.  Parents and guests will be able to visit classrooms in any order.

Our College Faire is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Main Quad.

The Cabrillo Band & Drum-line will perform in the main quad from 5:30pm to 6:10 pm.

College Financial Aid Information Workshop for Parents
The next College Financial Aid information workshop for parents will be on Saturday, June 6 - Testing for College and the new SAT, presented by Mr. Jaques Bordeaux from the College Board. 

This workshop will expose valuable information for any 9th and 10th grade student and parent.

African-American Leaders for Tomorrow (AALT) Program Four-Day Long Residential Summer Program

The African-American Leaders for Tomorrow (AALT) Program is a four-day long residential summer program that is held on the campus of California State University Dominquez Hills (CSUDH). Sixty students are hand selected and receive leadership training and attend workshops on topics such as college experience, career development and financial literacy. Students live on campus at CSUDH. Housing, meals, program materials, as well as transportation during the conference will be provided at no cost to the participants; and for students living outside of Los Angeles county transportation to the conference will also be provided. The application deadline is Friday, June 12th.

Seniors: Graduation Caps and Gowns

Please note that while caps and gowns are the traditional dress for graduation, such attire is not required for students to participate in graduation ceremonies. Most schools have not changed their cap and gown style for years, so if a neighbor, friend or relative has one, you may wish to borrow theirs. If you paid for a cap and gown but no longer wish to use one and would prefer to be reimbursed, please contact your school. Our high schools also make free caps and gowns available for students who wish to borrow them. Please also keep in mind that graduation dress codes will apply in the absence of a cap and gown.
